Frost Stars vs Gems: What's the Difference?

This catches out a lot of new Chiefs. Gems are the everyday currency you earn by playing — daily quests, events, alliance activity — and they cover the basics: resource packs, standard hero shards, routine speed-ups.

Frost Stars are the premium currency, and you cannot farm them. They come from recharging, and they open a separate shop: permanent account upgrades, hero content, cosmetics and time-limited seasonal bundles. The rate is straightforward — 1 Frost Star is 1 US cent, so $1 gets you 100 Stars.

They are not interchangeable, and Frost Stars cannot be moved between accounts. So the question is not which currency is better — it is what each one unlocks that the other cannot.

What to Spend Frost Stars On First
